COURSE BACKGROUND
Educare equips you, the student, with theoretical knowledge and practical skills to work with children up to 4 years old and start your own crèche. You will learn to identify signs and symptoms of child illnesses, learn the methodology of planning and presenting lessons, how to make equipment for class, how to deal with staffing issues, how to organise budgets, etc.
Furthermore, the programme also includes continuous exposure to the industry – with students going out to schools once a week for experiential learning.

This subject forms the foundation for effective education and prepares the student to give the correct support to the children.Child Health N4

Business Management and Entrepreneurship N5
This subject advises students on how to start their own business through drawing up a business plan
Educational Psychology
The student is introduced to various learning theories and will become aware of school readiness and different modes of early childcare delivery.
Daycare Communication N5
The student is taught to use various forms of communication that he/she will need in the workplace. The emphasis in this subject is to show the importance of effective communication in the Daycare situation.

Education Psychology
The student is introduced to various learning theories and will become aware of school readiness and different modes of early childcare delivery.
Daycare Management
This subject covers the managing of a daycare center, including the financial, administrative, and management aspects.

Grade 12 National Senior Certificate
Upon completion, certification will be issued from the Department of Higher Education & Training [DHET].
The National Diploma in Educare is made up of the following courses which are done over a period of 18 months.
National Certificate (N4): Education, Day-care Personnel Development, Child Health, And Educare Didactics: Theory and Practical.
National Certificate (N5/N6): Day-care Communication, Educational Psychology, Day-care Management, And Educare Didactics: Theory and Practical.
