Course Background: Tax Technician

The Tax Technician course is designed for individuals who want to build a strong career in taxation, accounting, and financial compliance. It equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical workplace skills needed to prepare tax returns, understand tax legislation, and ensure accurate financial reporting in line with legal and regulatory requirements. Learners are also introduced to key areas such as income tax principles, VAT calculations, payroll tax, and ethical practices in taxation.

This programme prepares students to handle real-world tax responsibilities such as completing tax submissions, assisting with audits, calculating tax liabilities, and maintaining accurate financial records. It builds the skills required to work effectively in accounting firms, corporate finance departments, and public sector organisations.

Course Duration and Intakes

Our Tax Technician course spans one year, offering students a structured pathway into the field of taxation, accounting, and financial compliance. The programme combines both theoretical learning and practical application, ensuring students gain hands-on experience in real tax-related processes such as preparing tax returns, calculating tax liabilities, and applying tax legislation in workplace scenarios.

The course has three intakes per year, which take place in January, June, and September. Students will participate in continuous assessments and practical training throughout the year, leading up to national examinations held in March and October/November. Upon successful completion, learners are awarded an occupational certificate: Tax Technician. (SAQA QUAL ID 118770).
