This qualification is made up of the following compulsory Knowledge and Practical Skill Modules:
The Child and Youth Care Worker qualification at Greenview College is specifically designed to prepare students for a rewarding career working with children and youth. This comprehensive program equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to support children’s emotional, physical, and developmental needs. Graduates of this program will be ready to work as Child and Youth Care Workers in various settings, helping children overcome challenges and thrive.
Knowledge Modules (Total 55 Credits)
The first phase of the qualification focuses on foundational knowledge essential for the role of a Child and Youth Care Worker. Students will complete a series of knowledge modules, including:
- Fundamentals of Human Development (Level 5, 4 Credits)
- Theories and Methodologies of Child and Youth Care Work (Level 5, 21 Credits)
- Self-Reflective Practices (Level 4, 9 Credits)
- Developmental Assessment Practices (Level 5, 7 Credits)
- Legislative Framework Relevant to Child and Youth Care (Level 5, 7 Credits)
- Supervision and Administration (Level 5, 7 Credits)
These modules provide a strong theoretical foundation for students pursuing a career as a Child and Youth Care Worker.
Practical Skill Modules (Total 39 Credits)
Students will also develop practical skills through hands-on training. The practical skill modules include:
- Provide Physical Care (Level 5, 8 Credits)
- Provide Social and Emotional Care (Level 5, 5 Credits)
- Interpret and Respond to Children’s Behaviours (Level 5, 5 Credits)
- Respond to Violent Behaviour (Level 6, 4 Credits)
- Apply Developmental Approaches (Level 5, 3 Credits)
These practical modules ensure that students are ready to provide direct support to children in need as a Child and Youth Care Worker.
Work Experience Modules (Total 96 Credits)
The work experience modules offer real-world training, which is essential for the role of a Child and Youth Care Worker. These modules include:
- Provide Holistic Developmental Care (Level 5, 12 Credits)
- Manage Behaviour within Child and Youth Care Context (Level 5, 12 Credits)
- Implement Life Space Work and Conduct Counselling (Level 5, 12 Credits)
- Advocate for the Rights of Children and Youth (Level 4, 12 Credits)
These modules help students gain practical experience that can be applied in professional settings as a Child and Youth Care Worker.

Certification
Learners who have passed National Examination will be awarded Occupational Certificate: MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE by Quality Council. Certificates are only issued to students that pass the EISA (NATIONAL EXAMS) whereby this certificate is Nationally and Internationally recognized.
